An Observation

An interesting observation I made Saturday night while hosting a little get-together. I was reading aloud from my latest book, "Chasing Shadows: Tales of East River". I found my own speaking voice and the way in which I read to be fast, hurried, and frantic- almost like the soul of Amy and her voice. But I clearly have to say that I am a much better writer than public speaker. I think the "voice" of the book should speak for itself it is not something I should be reading aloud. I don't think my own voice does it justice somehow even though it is my own work. Unless I can learn to read my own work in such a way as to capture the pace and rhythm of the work again.
