Update for November 18th, 2008

I was going over a finished manuscript and galley file for "The Light of Redemption" the other day with a funny, sneaky suspicion that there was something screwy with it. Even though I technically sent to the printers and it is already a published book, I went through the manuscript anyway and noted some glaring continuity errors and editting issues- bigger errors than I realised and ones I thought I would have fixed a long time ago. I guess I was distracted at the time. (Duh... like there was a shortage of distractions...)

I cancelled the publication and had the book taken from the online bookstore so that I could prevent the error riddled book from being sold. I will have a revised book out in its place very soon. I am in the process of de-bugging my manuscript and making sure everything belongs where it needs to. The last thing I want to do is produce an inferior book on what I consider to be a very special series of novels.

Also coming up, my historical/fiction, "Running from the Sun" will be featured in several book reviews and blogs fairly soon. As soon as I get more information, I invite you all to have a look. I should also be getting some initial book reviews from some professors. I am hoping that the reviews match the initial enthusiasm most have had for my work thus far.

An Interesting Book Review I Found - "The Audition"

Gifted Writer - by Anonymous
Reader Rating (4 stars of 5)
Posted May 13, 2006, 5:54 PM EST: The author is a very gifted writer. Overall, I enjoyed his book to no end. The books only literary drawback is the character Madame Tatiana. She nauseated me. She bored me. She did everything except scare me. She also seemed repetitive. Furthermore, learning about the bodily fluids of an eleven year old didn't endear me to the author. Aside from my comments above my only gripe is with the book cover. A book that costs over double the going rate shouldn't have a blurry image on the front cover. I could totally empathize with his protagonist Paige. My parents undermined me for years and I was always picked on. As a terrible student I was the bud of every joke. I love the books theme. If you want something bad enough, you should never give up!

The first words out of reviewer and screenplay writer Kristen Johnson's mouth after finishing my book..."Running from the Sun is GREAT!"I am very glad she liked it and I am sure she will put up a good review in December's edition of www.myshelf.com under Historical Fiction.I have felt very good about this book from the moment I started doing the research. There was an incredible spark behind it and I knew I just had to follow through with it and ride the story to its end. There is just something about the creative process where if you don't take advantage of a hot idea, you lose and lose big... but when you strike while the iron is still hot... bam... gold. The more I re-read this book or even chapters from it, the more I get emotionally attached and the more I feel the tears streaming from the corners of my eyes or get those goosebumps. I have to constantly remind myself that this isn't someone else's work I am reading... It's actually MINE. And granted, there are burps, editting issues, and mispellings, etc here and there.... but the story is very much intact and alive and thriving... if anything the little burps only add a sense of authenticity to the narration if you think about the "voice" of the book. What kid would get it right the first time if writing or sharing a story of this immense scope? If you take it from the right perspective, as a child writing the story and narrating it and forget ME... it is definitely an experience I think.
